The UOC temple of the "Chernobyl Savior" icon.
Address: Cherkassy, Smilyanska Street, 65A
The church of the "Chernobyl Savior" icon of the UOC was seized by raiders from the OCU in the presence of police and the SBU. According to eyewitnesses, an SBU officer personally supervised the raid.
🔴In March 2025, a group of OCU raiders began the process of illegally re-registering the church community.
The criminal group did not even hold a supposedly illegal meeting of the territorial community.
Furthermore, an absurd incident occurred during the re-registration: the legal address of the parish was registered at the residence of the UOC community head. In fact, the "transferred" OCU community found itself "registered" in the home of a man who is categorically opposed to the transfer.

When the legal battle began and discrepancies became apparent, an unexpected move followed: the legal entity of the religious community was simply liquidated. This circumvented the legal proceedings and expedited the seizure.
🔴On the morning of November 11, 2025, the church was seized in Cherkassy.
OCU representatives forcibly took the temple of the "Chernobyl Savior" icon from the UOC faithfuls, expelling the true parishioners.
Events unfolded according to a well-established scenario. The security service informed the churchwarden about the alarm. When he arrived, the church was already occupied by OCU members, with police and SBU officers standing around. According to sources, the operation was led by the deputy head of the Cherkassy SBU. An OCU lawyer present at the scene showed the police the re-registration documents, but, according to UOC representatives, omitted a key fact: the liquidation of the community's legal entity. The SBU's security service prohibited recording the events, and the security system codes were forcibly changed under the control of security forces.
The church is located near St. Michael's Cathedral, which had also previously been forcibly seized from the UOC.
